Exercise: Stretching, 100 yd sprint, 1 mile jog

Duration/Distance: 0.08 miles  or 100 yards in 50 seconds, pre-workout in about 15 minutes

Summary: I was hoping I'd be a little faster by a few seconds rather than just one second from my first test. I don't have a whole lot to say about that. Could it be that I haven't done sprints in about 35 years? Not sure what the deal is. Maybe I just have higher expectations for myself. My one mile was slightly better. My pace the first time was 16:09, this time it was 15:22. I'm getting there., and I did just get off a 10 hour shift, so perhaps I shouldn't scold myself too much.

Exercise: Stretching, and lots of it, squats, push ups, plank

Duration/Distance: 1.56 miles in 24.42 minutes, pre-workout in 25 minutes

Summary: Do you ever feel defeated? I did today. I went out and bought a new pair of Reebok workout pants, a Reebok long sleeved t-shirt, and a new pair of Asics that are supposed to be geared for running. I also bought an exercise bra, I mean a really nice one. Got home, and was excited to try out my new clothes. First the bra - taking it back. I couldn't breath after I zipped it up. I already have difficulty breathing while exercising, why would I want to turn blue next? Put on the pants and shirt, both very, very comfortable. I put the shoes on, very nice as well, and super comfortable. I didn't buy the recommended socks though. Big mistake. Those socks prevent the shoes from rubbing against the back of your foot giving you complete comfort while you're doing your cardio workout. I got a raw spot on the back of my Achille's tendon area, but I kept pushing myself though and limped most of the way back home. I was surprised at my time as this workout. It just wasn't what I hoped it would be after getting the proper gear (minus the much needed socks). The stretching was wonderful though and the best part of today's workout.

Exercise: Stretching, plank, push ups, squats

Duration/Distance: 1.69 miles in 27.41 minutes, 25 minute pre-workout

Summary: Better socks on today, same Reebok clothes as last night. The air quality isn't as good as it should be. Definitely not pristine conditions for an outdoor cardio workout, but went anyway. My neighborhood is pretty and  the scenery makes getting out on my feet enjoyable. The shoes were good, just need to be broken in some more. I think I will try another brand. Glad I bought these on sale. I think I just have to resign myself to taking more time to get back into shape. I have been pushing myself, and will continue to do so, but not be so hard on myself when I can't make a mile run or walk in 6 minutes. I just found out on the 17th that I am prediabetic, and need to make more changes in my diet and lifestyle. But pushing myself to the point of disappointment and frustration isn't going to be the way to do it. I love getting outdoors, I love walking, and I like challenging myself. Maybe I'll go for a hike up in the mountains on Friday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
