Summary: Hello December! My favorite time of the year! I just turned 56 two days ago.
I still look young for my age, but I better keep up the workouts to keep it that way! I love
the cooler weather, to me, it’s perfect for working out. Maybe that’s why my stats are a
little better this time. Hard work pays off eventually, and in my case it’s going to take a lot
of hard work. I made the sprint in 25 seconds less than the last time. As I came near to
the finish line, I had to catch my breath. I could have knocked off at least 10 more seconds
if I hadn’t slowed down. I also tried to be more aware of how my feet were landing and
pushing off in each step. My mile is one minute better than the last go around, but my
pace is still about the same. I don’t get that. Overall, a little progress is better than no
progress. I was really feeling discouraged last time, tonight’s test gave me a little bit of
hope.

Exercise: Stretching, 5 minute compilation of warm-ups, walking
Duration/Distance: 1.66 miles in 27:51 minutes
Snapshot of cardio workout:
Summary: What a beautiful, brisk morning to get out for a walk! The air was super clean and energized me to keep moving. The sky was so clear, and I could see the snow-capped mountains in the near distance. I'm beginning to think that the air quality in this valley is hindering my breathing. Even though it's not been optimal, it certainly is much better than it had been prior to the rain we recently had. I only wished my strides could be longer, but for a tall person, I have a short stride. I don't know if stretching will help, but I think it's worth the research. And it's definitely time to try a different shoe. Asics are just not a good fit for me. I believe that having the right shoe is going to help me endure longer. I'll be trying Brooks next.
December 2, 2018 evening walk
Exercise: Stretching only since I have been on the move all day, walking
Duration/Distance: 1.45 miles in 23:08 minutes
Snapshot of cardio workout:
Summary: My pace is better from this morning. I've enjoyed going out in the evenings for my walks. Today is my only day off until next Friday, so I wanted to plug in two workouts today. I don't regret it, and it feels good. Taking this PE class has helped me to get motivated again, and to keep moving. My weight has been stable, and I've lost a couple of pounds. I do enjoy being active with activities like hiking, swimming, jogging, etc. Learning how to place my steps when running or sprinting has improved my endurance. If anyone thinks that shoes don't make a difference, I can testify that the right footwear does in fact help along with regular weekly exercise. Another way to increase endurance is to go to an area that you love, and start walking or running. Enjoy the scenery around you. I'm pretty fortunate to be in a beautiful area. Take a partner with you for accountability and to help take your mind off the task at hand. And enjoy the benefits of good health, better breathing, and a stronger body. Don't forget to hydrate and eat foods that will energize your body!
