December 1, 2018! Exercise: Stretching, 100 yd sprint, 1 mile jog, modified push-ups, plank Duration/Distance: 0.07 miles  or 100 yards in 44 seconds, pre-workout in about 15 minutes Snapshot of sprint: Snapshot of 1 mile cardio:                                                   Summary: Hello December! My favorite time of the year!  I just turned 56 two days ago. I still look young for my age, but I better keep up the workouts to keep it that way!  I love the cooler weather, to me, it’s perfect for working out. Maybe that’s why my stats are a little better this time. Hard work pays off eventually, and in my case it’s going to take a lot of hard work. I made the sprint in 25 seconds less than the last time. As I came near to the finish line, I had to catch my breath. I could have knocked off at least 10 more seconds if I hadn’t slowed down. I also tried to be more aware of how my feet were landing and pushing off in each step. My mile is one minute

November 16, 2018  Exercise: Stretching, 100 yd sprint, 1 mile jog Duration/Distance: 0.08 miles  or 100 yards in 50 seconds, pre-workout in about 15 minutes Snapshot of cardio workout:  Summary: I was hoping I'd be a little faster by a few seconds rather than just one second from my first test. I don't have a whole lot to say about that. Could it be that I haven't done sprints in about 35 years? Not sure what the deal is. Maybe I just have higher expectations for myself. My one mile was slightly better. My pace the first time was 16:09, this time it was 15:22. I'm getting there., and I did just get off a 10 hour shift, so perhaps I shouldn't scold myself too much.   November 17, 2018 Exercise: Stretching, and lots of it, squats, push ups, plank Duration/Distance: 1.56 miles in 24.42 minutes, pre-workout in 25 minutes Snapshot of cardio workout:  Summary: Do you ever feel defeated? I did today. I went out and bought a new pa

November 10, 2018 Exercise: Walking/Jogging, push ups, plank, stretching, wall sit Duration and distance: 1.79 miles in 28:09 minutes. Pre-workout - 20 minutes Snapshot of my cardio workout: Summary: I had to take a double-look at my distance on this one realizing that I had a similar workout last week, but it looks like I made slightly better time on this one. That makes me happy. It was cool crisp evening, and I had to walk with my flashlight on. Too many people getting hit on the road while biking, walking, or jogging, so I'm trying to be extra careful. I think the neighbors are getting suspicious of a person walking fast or jogging in the dark around their neighborhood. The cool air helped with the breathing portion of the run as the smoke wasn't as thick in the air. I was able to pace myself a little better than the week before. Trying to pay more attention as to how my foot hits the ground too. I'd say I had a little success tonight. November

November 4, 2018 Exercise: Walking/Jogging, push ups, plank, stretching, wall sit Duration and distance: 1.79 miles in 28:12 minutes. Pre-workout - 20 minutes Snapshot of my cardio workout: Summary: Today I pushed myself harder than I have before. I really wanted to see what I could accomplish in a half hour. I also wanted to implement a new strategy to help me start jogging. Can't run yet, but jogging is a step in the right direction. So I've decided to cut my distance, and keep my time to 30 minutes. I think I want too much too quickly, and I'm getting tired faster which leads to burnout. I also need to cut myself some slack as I worked 11 hour days all week, plus overtime on Saturday. Ahh, the life of a nurse, but I'm determined to figure this cardio thing out. I took smaller steps, and tried to control my breathing. Not sure what is going on with the lungs, whether it's asthma or that my chest just doesn't want to open up, but my breathing was ro

October 28, 2018 19:10pm October 27, 2018 Exercise: Walking/Jogging, push ups, plank, stretching, wall sit Description: Started out with the warm ups which included the plank, push ups, and stretching, Left the house to walk and jog my usual route.  Duration and distance: 2.31 miles in 40:22 minutes. The pre-workout was about 20 minutes as I'm trying to hold my planks and wall sits a few seconds longer each time. It's going to take a while to build up push-ups, and I cannot do a sit up (having kids didn't do anything for my stomach muscles). Snapshot of my cardio workout: Summary: I had a much better time keeping up my pace this time. I rested well, and ate good foods throughout the day making sure I was hydrated. The preworkout was the same but I'm holding a plank a little longer, but only by a few seconds. My abdomen is sore, but it's the good kind where you know you're making progress. I even tried to do a sit up, but no luck there. I can only g
